10 Things to do with Green Beans

Summer brings and overload of beans, and it can be hard to figure out what to do with all of them.

Welll, I'm here today to give you ten ways that you can eat all those green beans! Green beans can also be chopped and frozen for later us. You don't have to blanch them, but you can if you would like. You can either package your chopped beans in meal-sized bags or flash freeze it on a cookie tray for easier use. Make sure you label it! It will last a long time in your freezer.

1. Saute

Lightly saute your green beans with some oil and salt. They are delicious and can be served as a side dish.

2. Bake

You can also prepare green beans just as like squash flowers. Dip whole green beans in and egg mixture then roll in a flour mixture. Bake in the oven until cripsy. Serve with a homemade dipping sauce.

3. Casseroles

Add green beans to the next casserole that you make. You can also specifically make a green bean casserole. Load it up wth cheese and garlic! Enjoy!

4. Potato Salad

This is new! Green bean potato salad is a novelty. Cook the green beans and potatoes separately and combine them with all your spices and mayonanise. Serve as a side or eat for a meal.

5. Roast

Try this appetizer for your next get together! Toss whole green beans (chop the ends first) with salt, olive oil, garlic and lemon zest. Spread on a tray and roast at 425 for about 15 minutes. Shorten the time if you want it soft and lenghten it if you would like them crispy.

6. Steam

Chop your green beans up and place in a pot. Add water so that it doesn't burn. You don't need too much; too much, will cause the flavor to go into the water. Steam on medium heat until softened. Drain excess water and toss with butter, salt, and garlic powder. Enjoy!

7. Bean Salad

Who doesn't enjoy a tangy, cruchy three-bean salad to enjoy in the summer? In replace of the 15 ounce can of green beans, steam enough grean beans until you have just under 2 cups (1.8 cups to be exact) to add to your recipe. Continue as the recipe directs. Chill the salad so that all the flavors can meld together.

8. Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Who would have thought? Add green beans to your next grilled cheese sandwich, and enjoy nutrient dense goodness with every bite!

9. Grill

Those of you who love to grill or smoke, throw some green beans on the grill. Season with salt and garlic powder.

10. Stir Fry

Remember the stir fry recipe from the last post? You can add green beans to it, or you can make a stir fry of only green beans. If you want an authentic Thai green bean stir fry, add fish sauce, shrimp paste, and sugar to the mix. Serve on a bed of basmanti rice with some curried chicken.

I hope this was helpful to you and sparked your mind on ways to use green beans.
