10 Things to do with Scape Powder

Scape Powder... What do you do with it?

Scapes are very healthy and it is great when you have a preserved way to use them all year long. We take our surplus scapes, chop and dry it. Then we grind it into a powder, sift it and finally package it into a nice jar that is labelled and sealed. This premium product is available on our store.

Here are 10 ways that you can use them.

1. Garlic Scape Butter

Add a unique twist to garlic butter by mixing scape powder with softened butter. Add enough powder to suit your taste. Add salt if you wish. Spread this on crackers, biscuits, and bread. Take this to the next level by toasting the buttered bread to make garlic bread.

2. Potato Dishes

Garlic and potatoes are delicious paired together! Add some of this powder to mashed potatoes or potato salad. Toss this onto fries before you bake them.

3. Marinades and Sauces

When marinading some meat, rub the scape powder on the meat. Additionally, sprinkle in pasta sauces, pestos, dips, meat sauces or any other dish where a garlic flavor would be welcomed. Experiment and have fun in the kitchen!

4. Dressings

Do you make your own dressings? Instead of preparing garlic cloves to throw in your dish, reach for your jar of scape powder. Add a hefty sprinkle (this is mild!) to your dressing. This can be added to vinaigrettes or cream dressings alike.

5. Mild Substitute for Garlic Powder

Do you have any other ways where you love to add garlic powder? Use this instead! This is a mild garlic substitute, so it can be used most effectively in dishes where a muted garlic flavor would add greater appeal. Things such as rices, beans, and dips can benefit from this greatly.

6. Breads and Crackers

When mixing up a batch of soft, whole-grain bread, add some finely chopped herbs and scape powder to it to make a delicious herb bread. Herbs that work great are basil, rosemary, sage, and oregano. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top if you desire. After rising, bake and top with softened garlic scape butter. Yum!

7. Soft cheese spreads/dips

Soften some ricotta or cream cheese. Mix with some sour cream (if desired), salt, chives, and garlic scape powder. This spread can be used on breads or crackers. If needed, thin it out with a splash of m milk. This can also make a great dip for a vegetable platter.

8. Seasoning Mixes

Scape powder can also be added to seasoning mixes. For example, taco seasoning, chili seasoning, or ranch dressing mix can be greatly improved by adding some scape powder to it. Even if you purchase your seasoning mixes, you can still add scape powder to the container that the mixture is in. Mix thoroughly and store in a cool, dark place.

9. Egg Dishes

Souffles, frittatas, quiches, omelets ... you name it, scape powder is great in it all! Whisk some scape powder into your eggs before cooking it. Enjoy the garlicky flavor with every bite!

10. Pastas

Whether you are making fettuccine alfredo or a simple mac and cheese, scape powder is a wonderful addition in it.

I hope this has sparked ways that you can add scape powder in your food. Find creative ways to enjoy this nutritional food in your meals.
